Emerald Silpo Styled after The Wizard of Oz Launched at Dream Town Mall, Block A 26.12.2019

The creation of the store design at Dream Town (block A) was inspired by one of the most iconic stories, The Wizard of Oz. At the entrance, guests are greeted by the Silpo signboards on huge "emeralds", and customers walk on a yellow brick road that guides them through the whole store to the capital of the country of Oz, the Emerald City. 

Come, take a picture in the Vegetables and Fruits section with Tin Lumberjack and Scarecrow. In the shopping area, you can see a variety of themed art objects: a hurricane that is taking the house to a magical land, green glasses, the face of the great and mighty Goodwin on the ceiling and a green balloon. Throughout the store, you can see flying monkeys that help you navigate by holding section name boards and check-out area numbers. On the walls, the designers depicted scenes from the story, while the signboards mimic emeralds with golden sparkly letters, so everything shines bright like gems.

The conceptual zones in this Silpo with an area of 1,580 square meters include a large fish section with live and smoked fish, oysters and lobsters, an olive bar, a Traditional Shop with produce from small local producers, a bakery section with products made by Silpo and Craftsmen, a flower shop, a section of freshly made pizza and sushi, and a section of freshly roasted coffee.

The supermarket entrance is located close to the facade of Dream Town shopping mall, near Minska metro station. It is open from 8 am to 11 pm and has 10 cash registers, 4 express registers and 7 self-service registers.

This was the second designer Silpo store opened at Dream Town. On December 13th, Block B saw the launch of a 24/7 supermarket, located closer to Heroiv Dnipra metro station.

The Silpo supermarket chain has been experimenting with interior design since the beginning. Over five years ago, the retailer began designing its own thematic conceptual designs for individual supermarkets, and in 2018 expanded the experiment to the entire network. Now every new Silpo has its own design and additionally there is a program of updating the design and concept of existing stores (as of 01/01/2020, there are seven supermarkets with their own thematic design). Currently, Silpo is one of the few major grocery retailers in the world to create custom themed designs for each store.

The network has supermarkets styled after the Mavka Universe, Van Gogh, music theme, ancient printing house, yacht club/seaport, Asian culture, and the Wild West. There is even a Klingon language store (fictional language of the Star Trek universe) and a rock stars store. In 2019, three designer supermarkets were listed in the Europe's Finest Store 2019, the top 25 of the best innovative designs of European stores according to the European Supermarket Magazine.

Silpo is one of the largest Ukrainian chains of grocery stores in Ukraine with an assortment of around 76,000 grocery and related products, as well as products of its own brands and imports. The company’s project “Lavka Tradytsii™” (Eng. Traditional Shop) aims to support and develop small Ukrainian manufacturers, whose products can be purchased at Silpo and Le Silpo delicacies.

As of 26/12/2019, the retail chain has 258 supermarkets, including 4 Le Silpo delicacies.
