Speaking Dinosaur Took Up Residence In The Centre Of Kyiv 14.02.2017
10-meter dinosaur settled on the facade of a residential building in Kiev, situated at 118, Saksaganskogo st. He is not acquainted with a lot of people yet, so he invites all comers to celebrate the housewarming with him on February 14th at 17:00. Speaking dinosaur is a lovesick guy that’s why he considers this "romantic" date to be his birthday. The presence of the creators of his new home namely of Lera Lyashenko, the illustrator, Konstantin Skrututskiy, the sculptor, Silpo team as ideological inspirers, and Fyodor Balandin who is the art curator of the project is on his part.

It all began with the complaints of the neighbourhood residents about the strange advertising on the facade of their house. With time this information reached Silpo creative team. Silpo is known for experiments with the interiors and designs of its stores, serving as a platform for realizing the ideas of talented artists. Being inspired by the project and having the support of citizens and Shevchenko District City Administration gained, with the help of well-known city arists, the team has created a unique art object.

“I painted emotions, not a certain object. Of course, I could have expressed it by different means, but that's exactly how I see it: the sweetness of pineapple, dinosaur’s positive vibes, the ancient Kiev and its citizens. One can scrutinize the details for a long time, but general perception is the most important.” The author did not forget her favourite city: “The fact that everything on the painting takes place beyond Earth is very important, but if you look closely, you can see Kyiv on the horizon,” says Lera Lyashenko, who also modernized Silpo at 96, Gonchara st.

Silpo team entrusted sculptor Konstantin Skrututskiy with bringing the sketch to life. Such Kyiv sights as Peyzazhka, “Hedgehog in the fog” and other tourist facilities were reconstructed in his studio. He was the only one who could create a complex mosaic panel with a unique palette. To get such intense colours, the mosaic was specially customized in Italy.

“The creation of sketch and its adaptation took approximately six months. After that a laborious process of putting the unique mosaic together took place. Such a great deal of manual work is a challenge for a sculptor. The basis, gluing, calculation, scaling ... It is a type of a work where every millimetre makes sense and any mistake can affect final result seriously,” − says Scrututskiy.

“The project was born surrounded by harmony and careful attitude among co-authors, patron and residents of the house. We have created a 2017 Love Horoscope as a follow-up of this "love story". Choosing the opening date there was no doubt it was going to be the most romantic day of the year which is February 14th. In a romantic atmosphere with a warming love drink, we are going to give everyone a good prediction for a year”, − comments the work Fyodor Balandin, the art-curator of the project.
