Silpo and Fora Launch a Cash Withdrawal Service at Checkout 30.07.2020
Starting from August 1, 2020, the service will be available to cardholders of various banks in all chain stores.

The new service allows you to withdraw cash immediately at the supermarket checkout when paying for purchases with a bank card without additional fees. The maximum amount of cash withdrawal per transaction is UAH 500 and does not depend on the amount of the check.

“The launch of the Cash at the Checkout Service is another step towards our goal to accommodate our customers. This way, they wouldn’t need to look for an ATM because it is built in the checkout. We will start with the largest stores, Silpo and Fora, and soon add other Fozzy Group chain outlets,” says Vitalii Vorozhbyt, Fozzy Group Officer for Digital Transformation.

To use the Cash at the Checkout Service, you must inform the cashier of the amount of withdrawal, which they will add to the cost of goods. Then you confirm such a transaction at the checkout by entering the PIN code of the bank card or using a smartphone that supports NFC (Apple/Google Pay).

The Cash at the Checkout Service was implemented in partnership with Mastercard, while PrivatBank serves as a partner bank.

“The Cash at the Checkout Service eliminates the need to withdraw cash in advance because now you can do it at any convenient time when shopping. This way, the service opens new opportunities for cardholders and enables our customers to use services that are normally available only in bank offices. We are grateful to our partners for their support in the development of the service, and we keep on working to make the Cash at the Checkout Service provided in stores available to the maximum number of Ukrainians,” says Valerii Novikov, Mastercard Commercial Development Director in Ukraine.

On August 1, 2020, the NBU Resolution No. 59 as of May 7, 2020 enters into force in Ukraine. It allows for a simplified and improved procedure for accounting and cash withdrawals at cash desks of commercial enterprises, which, in turn, will encourage further growth of the service.

Silpo is one of the largest grocery chains in Ukraine. Founded in 1998, it is part of Fozzy Group, one of the largest trade and industrial groups in Ukraine. As of July 2020, there are 263 Silpo supermarkets, including 4 Le Silpo delicatessen and the online store shop.silpo.ua, launched during quarantine.
