Fozzy Group Opens a Distribution Centre in Lviv 09.03.2021

Fozzy Group’s new distribution centre has opened in Lviv. This is the Group’s first DC in the West of Ukraine and the sixth one in the country. By establishing the new DC, the Group has optimized goods storage and distribution for their retail chains throughout Ukraine. Fozzy Group now operates its DCs in five oblasts: Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, and Kharkiv.

The Lviv DC occupies an area of 20,058 square metres. The centre has a dispatching capacity of 1,200 pallets per day.

By opening the Lviv DC, Fozzy Group has created 340 new jobs in the region.

‘We’ve opened our new modern warehouse complex in Lviv, as we implement the regional logistics development strategy. We open regional warehouses according to the 80/20 principle. Therefore, we’ll deliver 80% of the region’s goods from the Lviv DC, which will have a positive effect on the environment and the availability of goods for the guests at our stores’, said Oleksandr Popov, Director of Operational Warehouse Logistics Office at Fozzy Group.

The DC serves Silpo and Thrash! in eight regions: Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, and Chernivtsi. This helps optimize the logistics workflow of both the Group and our suppliers in the West of Ukraine. By reducing the transportation leg, we cut CO2 emissions by 2,208 tons per year, as our lorries have now reduced their travel distance by 3.6 million km each year.

The centre is backed up by cutting-edge technologies to manage and collect our goods. All of our processes are automated. In addition, the new DC will be a platform for testing new technologies.

The DC has six special zones for different categories of goods: storage and selection rooms for shelf products, frozen products, chilled fish, vegetables and fruits, and milk and meat distribution zones. For the first time ever, Fozzy Group has combined all of the processes which require different temperature conditions in one centre.

The centre operates at Protec Zymna Voda, as the largest technology park in the West of Ukraine.
